Question: Where to buy food and if there is sale of ready-to-cook food?
Answer: We have a supermarket where you can purchase products and ready meals. But such food might be not in your style, as Russian cuisine appeared to be quite original.
Q: I am able to rent a house in Magadan for a long time?
A: You can rent a flat (apartment) in Magadan with furniture and household appliances for the long term. Some examples you can see here on the site: http://www.kvartiryer.com.
There is also the rental service office, where you can find flats for renting on the daily basis. It is located near a bus station (indicated on the below map).
In Magadan, flat rent rates varies from 600 to 1,000 dollars a month.
Q: How many people in Magadan can speak English?
A: Majority doesn’t speak English very much, but there are enough English-speaking people, especially among young ones.
First questions are received via AskMagadan.com’s contact form. Great! It means the website started bringing results. So, here are questions:
«I need some information.. which is the better way to reach butugychag? from susuman or magadan? is it possible to find accomodation in susuman? from susuman (i’ve read there is a public bus to magadan) does it start every day? at which time?»
Answers:
1) It’s easier to get to Butugychag from Magadan. The point is that the camp is located on Tenkinsky Road considered to be the alternative to the Yakutsk – Magadan federal highway. It’s harder to reach the camp from Susuman. By the way, Tenkinsky Road looks much better.
2) It’s much easier to reach Butugychag, if you find (rent) an off-road vehicle with a driver as a guide. This year the rate for such a car was 300 USD per day. The price included a car rent, fuel, and food. I have good friends among guides, so you are welcome to ask about it.
3) There is a regular public transportation working between Susuman and Magadan. The way takes 14 hours and a bus is small (a minivan). Departure is at 11 am.
4) Two hotels work in Susuman. One is located near the bus station, the other on the territory of the training center of the Susuman gold processing factory. Not hard to find them.

VM Centralnaya Hotel in Magadan, Russia.
There are three hotels in Magadan, where you can stay.
The budget and simple one is Magadan Hotel. In the USSR time, it was the major hotel in the city. The expensive one is Ocean (Okean) Hotel. The most expensive is VM-Centralnya Hotel (ВМ-Центральная, in Russian).
Hotels, VM-Centralnaya and Magadan, are located in the city downtown. Ocean is on the shore of the Okhotsk Sea.
If you are not limited in cash, I would recommend you to stay in VM-Centralnaya. The room rate is from 3000 rubles per day. Its website: www.hotelvm.ru. The hotel has a restaurant, a bar, and a pool (billiard) hall.
Guesthouses also exist in Magadan. Usually, they are 2- or 3-room furnitured, fully-equipped appartments. Payment is based on a daily basis. Such places are comfortable, I think, but booking a room must be done in advance.
Guesthouses tend not to be represented online. So, it’s necessary to make reservation via your Magadan-based partners.
